SNOW AND ICE EMERGENCIES
In order to facilitate the movement of traffic and to combat the hazards of snow and ice on the snow emergency routes listed below, the Borough Manager, in his discretion, may declare a snow and ice emergency. Information on the existence of a snow emergency shall be given by the Borough through radio, newspaper, or other available media and information on the termination of the emergency may be given by use of the same media.
After a snow emergency is declared, it shall be unlawful, at any time during the continuance of the emergency, for any person to:
If, at any time during a period of a snow emergency, a person should park a motor vehicle or allow a motor vehicle to remain parked anywhere upon PA Route 230 in the Borough, that person shall be guilty of a violation of Article VII, Chapter 255-121, and shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $15.00 in costs.
ON-STREET HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES
The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to establish and terminate the establishment of on-street handicapped parking spaces in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 255-10 of the Mount Joy Borough Code. Requests for the designation of on-street handicapped parking spaces shall verify that the individual requesting such designation has been issued a disability license plate or a disability placard by the Department of Transportation. This request will then be reviewed for recommendations by the Public Safety Committee. Borough Council will then take action to either approve or deny the request. Individuals should also notify the Chief of Police when the person who requested the designation no longer desires or requires such on-street handicapped parking space.
GENERAL PARKING RESTRICTIONS
No person shall park or permit a vehicle to be parked upon any public street in the Borough in excess of 48 hours.
No person shall park or permit the following to remain parked on a public street or alley within the Borough except for local deliveries:
