Officers with the North Charleston Police Department’s (NCPD) Traffic Unit arrested a 46-year-old Summerville man Friday morning in connection with a fatal head-on collision on Carner Avenue near Rivers Avenue, that closed the roadway this morning.

Officers responded to the crash shortly before 7:30 a.m. The collision involved two vehicles, and one driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Charleston County EMS.

The initial investigation revealed there was evidence that the suspect, Dominic Jack McGrath was speeding and crossed the centerline to collide with another vehicle.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit assisted investigators with the investigation. The Charleston County Coroner's Office is assisting with the investigation, as well.

McGrath was charged with Reckless Homicide and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
