On September 18, Officers Sylvester and Cooper conducted a follow-up investigation into the theft of a wallet from an Uber driver. The victim provided a video of the theft, which showed the suspect wearing a North Charleston High School sweatshirt. Utilizing this key detail, the officers consulted with our School Resource Officers Unit and were able to positively identify the suspect.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had discarded the stolen wallet in a trash bag and placed it in a dumpster. Demonstrating remarkable dedication, Officers Sylvester and Cooper physically searched the dumpster and sifted through two separate trash bags—ultimately recovering the victim’s wallet.
The victim was so grateful for their efforts that he wrote a letter to our agency commending the officers’ outstanding work. Their determination, attention to detail, and teamwork are shining examples of exceptional police service.
Job well done, Officers Sylvester and Cooper!
