On 4/17/23, the York City Police Department Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle. As the vehicle came to a stop the front seat passenger fled on foot and officers gave chase. The suspect ran through yards and over fences before being caught in the 200 blk of Kurtz Ave. During the chase, the subject discarded a white drawstring bag, which officers recovered. In this bag were large amounts of various drugs including approximately: 130g of Methamphetamine,120g of Crack Cocaine, 28 g of Marijuana, 31 g of Heroin, drug packaging materials, and a digital scale. Officers also recovered a large amount of cash from the suspect’s pocket and a loaded Glock Model 43 (9mm) from the suspect’s waistband. The suspect resisted arrest and attempted to escape custody, but was stopped shortly after fleeing.
It was later discovered that the suspect was in fact STEPHON BROWN, who had numerous outstanding felony gun and drug charges/warrants and was one of YCPD’s most wanted. Brown was charged with 4 counts of Possession with intent to deliver drugs, 4 counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, evading, escape, persons not to possess firearms, and carrying a firearm without a license.
