Undercover Police Operation Cracks Down on Illegal Vape Sales to Minors
On Tuesday, April 29, the York City Police Department conducted Operation VapeDown, an undercover enforcement detail focused on the illegal sale of tobacco vape products to underage individuals. In response to community concerns, a team of officers, working with a young adult under the legal purchasing age, visited sixteen retail locations across the city to test compliance with state tobacco laws.
Of the sixteen businesses visited, four unlawfully sold tobacco vape products to the underage individual.
The non-compliant businesses were issued a warning letter. Any future violations will result in charges being filed.
The York City Police Department urges all vendors to remain vigilant in verifying identification and complying with Pennsylvania tobacco laws.
