Re: The Disorderly Incident at EFS School
First, Thank you to everyone who reached out to me with your questions and concerns regarding the Police Incident that occured this morning, outside of E.F. Smith School, on Texas Ave in York. The incident (an altercation between parents) involved Officers from both the York City School District Police, and Officers from the City PD (who subsequently responded to assist with the disturbance).
Now that I've been made aware, I am working with my team (here at the York City Police Department), and District School Police Leadership (i.e.; Chief Quinn Johnson) to review the matter, and conduct any further investigation necessary. In that review our agencies will be focusing on the allegations and concerns surrounding both (1) the original altercation that took place between the two women (as seen on the social media video and related surveillance footage), and (2) threats made, and the alleged brandishing of a firearm on or about school property. Once complete, both agencies will be consulting with the York County District Attorney's Office for further review of the circumstances, and a determination on any additional charges deemed appropriate.
Once again, we (both the York City Police Department and York City School Police) would like to thank everyone for sharing their concerns, and trusting us to handle the matter thoughtfully and transparently.
As always, we must continue to make maintaining a peaceful environment for our children, our top priority (even in tough situations).
Sincerely,
Commissioner Muldrow
York City Police Department
