On 07/30/2026, as part of the York City Police Department’s ongoing efforts to address concerns in and around the downtown area, the York City Police Department and York County Drug Task Force conducted a narcotics investigation at York Convenience, located at 164 W. Market St. The investigation was initiated following numerous complaints regarding suspected narcotics activity at the business.
As a result of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for the business. During the execution of the warrant, investigators recovered approximately four pounds of marijuana products being sold as “legal marijuana,” along with $971 in cash and various packaging materials. The products were being marketed as THC-A (THCA) marijuana.
The York City Police Department reminds business owners and the public that products advertised as “legal marijuana” are not necessarily legal. The legality of a product depends on its actual composition and compliance with Pennsylvania law. A label that says “legal” does not make a product legal, and if a product is being sold as marijuana, consumers and business owners should not assume it is lawful simply because it is marketed as THC-A or hemp-derived.
Businesses engaged in the sale of marijuana or marijuana-derived products are encouraged to ensure that the products they possess and sell comply with all applicable laws.
This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the sale or distribution of suspected illegal narcotics at this location is asked to contact the York City Police Department.
