ATTENTION PENNSYLVANIA DRIVERS 
PAUL MILLER’S LAW TAKES EFFECT JUNE 5
Beginning June 5, 2026, Pennsylvania’s new distracted driving law, known as Paul Miller’s Law, makes it illegal to use a hand-held cell phone or other interactive mobile device while driving. This includes when your vehicle is temporarily stopped at a red light, stop sign, or in traffic.
What You Need to Know:
- Hands-free use is permitted (Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice commands)
- Holding your phone in your hand while driving
- Texting, scrolling social media, or browsing the internet
- Dialing or answering calls by pressing more than a single button
- Using your phone while stopped in traffic or at a red light
- Drivers may be stopped solely for violating this law.
Enforcement:
- Beginning June 6, 2026: Violators may receive a $50 citation plus court costs and fees.
