This department received an email from a LWT resident last week. Early Sunday morning, the week prior, around 1:00 am, 2 individuals came to the home and knocked on the door and ran. The resident did NOT report this to the police because they believed it was just 2 jokesters. However, after seeing a news post on Fox, they became suspicious. These individuals resembled a photo from the Holtwood area in Lancaster County where items were being stolen.
Should anyone be getting pranked during the night time hours, or having suspicious activity caught on your home cameras, please report this to the police right away. Call 9-1-1 and an officer can be dispatched to your house and hopefully catch these “jokesters” in the area. If it’s after the fact and too much time has passed, please feel free to call the station.
Police need to be made aware of your suspicious activity or how do we know what crime is happening in our community.
People sometimes say, “we don’t want to bother the police with such petty stuff.” But, what if something else is going on in your neighborhood that you are unaware of? What if several of your neighbors experienced the same thing and have damaged property? What if a neighbor got some property stolen? You never know what may be going on.
Please refrain from posting complaints on Facebook. We do not monitor everyone’s facebook pages for random complaints. You must contact an on-duty officer by calling 9-1-1 to report suspicious activities and crimes.
LWTPD would like our residents to notify us when suspicious activity occurs. Please help us to help you and let’s be a team in solving crime.
