The Carroll Township Police Department is saddened to share the passing of Alfred Watkins “Bill” Castle III, who served as the first Chief of Police for our department. Chief Castle led Carroll Township from 1973 until his retirement in 1992, establishing our first K-9 unit and setting the foundation for the department we know today.
Chief Castle dedicated his life to public service — as a law enforcement officer, trainer, and community leader — and his legacy continues to inspire those who serve after him. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
Services will be held later this week in Dillsburg. Details can be found in his obituary here: https://www.cocklinfuneralhome.com/obituary/AlfredWatkinsBill-CastleIII.
Rest in peace, Chief Castle. Your service and leadership will never be forgotten.
