Greensburg, PA -- The 2026 Westmoreland County Child Government Day overtook the courthouse on Friday, April 10, 2026 and made a stop in the office of District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli.
The DA's Office hosted four groups of students throughout the morning to speak about the function of the office, investigating crimes, and collecting evidence.
Each group was able to dust for fingerprints using tools from the forensic services division, in addition to taking a fingerprint card home.
Forensic Detective John Swartz taught each group how to identify each unique fingerprint and how prints are formed and left behind at a crime scene.
Forensic Detectives Steve Grabiak and Steve Crawford were also on hand to help students capture their fingerprints.
Students also visited park police, the coroner's office, courtrooms, and other county offices to see firsthand the daily operation of county government.
