Nicole W. Ziccarelli’s response to the not-guilty verdict by a Westmoreland County jury with regard to the criminal case against Ezra Grant. 

“While we are disappointed in the verdict, we respect the jury’s decision.  Assaults against law enforcement officers in Westmoreland County are taken very seriously and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent by my office.  Lest we forget, three New Kensington law enforcement officers were fired upon repeatedly for doing their job and protecting our community.  Their lives will forever be changed and we are forever grateful for their service.  I cannot comment at this time about the pending case involving J’Lamar Washington.” – Nicole Ziccarelli, Westmoreland County District Attorney
