Pittsburgh, PA -- The three-day, 150-mile journey from Pittsburgh to State College to celebrate the Pennsylvania Special Olympics Summer Games kicked off on Tuesday morning.
Be A Fan Torch Run brings together local, state, and county law enforcement alongside Special Olympic athletes and their families inside of PNC Park to celebrate the ceremonial start.
Several Westmoreland County Detectives and local law enforcement officers took part in the run this morning around PNC Park on Pittsburgh's North Shore.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run helps to raise money for Special Olympic athletes and raises awareness for inclusion and acceptance.
Westmoreland County District Attorney was on hand to cheer on law enforcement and the athletes, alongside Port Authority Police Chief Matt Porter, Pittsburgh Pirates President Travis Williams, Pittsburgh Bureau Chief of Police, and leaders of the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.
