North Huntingdon Township, PA -- Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli visited 'A Child's Place' in North Huntingdon Township this week.
A Child's Place is an advocacy center that serves multiple counties in western Pennsylvania with satellite facilities in Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland.
A Children's Advocacy Center is a facility in which law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical, and victim advocacy professionals work together to investigate abuse, help children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable.
Since 1999, A Child's Place has been involved in more than 30,000 cases of suspected child abuse.
The District Attorney's Office works collaboratively with this center for forensic interviews and medical exams when our office is investigating a potential crime involving a minor.
In addition to assessment, the center also provides resources for prevention and education to children and parents.
