Greensburg, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli is pleased to announce a total of more than $50,000 was dispersed from drug forfeiture funding to local law enforcement organizations and preventative projects in 2025.
“By providing resources, equipment, and basic investigatory assets to our local law enforcement and our school districts, we strive to be among the most well-equipped agencies in the Commonwealth who continue to serve and protect our communities every day,” DA Ziccarelli said.
In 2025, a total of six police departments received funding as part of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act.
Property used or intended to be used in violation of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act is subject to forfeiture, according to Pennsylvania statutes.
Property and money forfeited is then transferred to the custody of the District Attorney and can only be used for enforcement or prevention of drug violations.
The District Attorney designates proceeds from forfeited property to be used for community-based drug and crime-fighting measures.
“Distributing this forfeiture funding comes as part of my duty to this office, however it is my privilege to see the direct correlation of this to enhance the resources and basic functions of our public-serving agencies. It takes the burden off of our municipalities while keeping our streets safe and preventing criminal activity,” DA Ziccarelli said.
