Congressman Reschenthaler, DA secure $643,355 in federal funds for law enforcement technology upgrades in Westmoreland Co.

Greensburg, PA – Through a cooperative effort, Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli are proud to announce a $643,355 federal investment benefiting law enforcement technology upgrades in Westmoreland County.

The federal funding will advance technology and digital resources to include equipment upgrades for local law enforcement, additional License Plate Readers at high-volume traffic intersections within the county, expansion of the county’s digital forensic task force to include municipal officers, and subsequent digital forensic software upgrades.

This funding is expected to support and enhance the safety and security of Westmoreland County residents by streamlining the productivity of police, prosecutors, and victim witness advocates; it will benefit evidence analysis and improve communication and compensation for victims.

In January, President Donald Trump signed the Fiscal Year 2026 Consolidated Appropriations Act into law, which included $643,355 secured by Reschenthaler for Westmoreland County to replace outdated and antiquated equipment used by local law enforcement for public safety purposes.

“As District Attorney, it has been imperative for my office to pursue and obtain grant funding to enhance and integrate technology into our law enforcement agencies who serve and protect our residents every day,” said DA Ziccarelli. “This technology upgrade from U.S. Congressman Guy Reschenthaler’s office is a result of a cooperative effort from our local and federal partners, and I am thrilled this money will be spent on supporting and preserving public safety for Westmoreland County citizens.”

“I was proud to join District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli today to highlight funding for law enforcement upgrades for Westmoreland County,” said Reschenthaler. “Nicole has a successful record of ensuring violent, heinous criminals receive justice for their criminal actions, and I am honored to partner with her to secure $643,355 for local law enforcement. This funding is part of the $215 million I was proud to secure last fiscal year for southwestern Pennsylvania as a member of the House Appropriations Committee.”

In total, Reschenthaler secured nearly $215 million for southwestern Pennsylvania in FY26.

Since 2022, the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office has pursued and secured approximately $5 million in grant funding for the benefit of public safety.
