Greensburg, PA – The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office, and Ligonier Valley Police are releasing an update on the death investigation of Amy Shipley, 45, of Ligonier.
After an extensive and thorough review of autopsy findings and toxicology examination, forensic pathologist Dr. Jennifer Hammers determined Shipley died as a result of homicidal violence including multiple blunt force trauma and ruled her death a homicide.
Shipley’s body was found in a makeshift grave on a property on Helens Lane in Cook Township.
An autopsy revealed Shipley had multiple traumatic injuries to her body, including broken bones in various stages of healing.
The property located on Helens Lane was frequented by Roger Angelo, who was the live-in boyfriend of Shipley at the time of her disappearance.
Shipley was reported missing on September 13, 2024 after she was not heard from for several days.
It is believed Shipley died in her home on Sunday, September 8, 2024 before she was buried on the Helens Lane property.
Roger Angelo, 48, was expected to be charged with criminal homicide in the death of Amy Shipley prior to committing suicide on September 19, 2024.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
