Greensburg, PA -- A routine traffic violation led Greensburg Police to discovering drugs, and a firearm inside of a vehicle, resulting in one arrest.
Greensburg Police were on routine patrol on Saturday, January 17, 2026 when they noticed a vehicle on South Main Street operating without headlights.
Police initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Tevin Mitchell by his Michigan identification card. Mitchell advised officers his driving privileges are currently suspended.
The officer could smell burnt marijuana and observed a burnt marijuana blunt near the gear shifter inside of the vehicle.
Mitchell consented to a search of the vehicle which led police to discovering suspected packets of marijuana and a handgun in the trunk of the vehicle, according to officers.
Mitchell allegedly told officers the gun belonged to his girlfriend, and upon a search of the registration, police determined the handgun and the vehicle were registered to the same owner.
Officers also located a pill bottle, not prescribed to Mitchell, inside of the vehicle underneath a seat.
Once officers detained Mitchell and brought him to city hall, a secondary search of Mitchell's body led police to several baggies of suspected cocaine hidden on his body, totaling 8 grams.
Greensburg Police said the marijuana confiscated resulted in a total weight of more than 10 grams.
Mitchell was charged with narcotics-related offenses, drug possession, possession of firearm prohibited, and several traffic offenses.
