UPDATE —> Shawn Prince was taken into custody in the state of Kentucky on Saturday morning. He is awaiting extradition.

Scottdale, PA -- A Scottdale man was charged by police after allegedly kidnapping a woman and forcing her to stay the woods overnight by gunpoint. 

Shawn Prince, 29, is facing charges of kidnapping, simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment. 

Scottdale Police responded to a residence on Jennings Avenue for a check on the welfare on October 1, 2025. 

The victim's family reported to police that they had not heard from the victim since a previous domestic incident with Prince on Monday and were concerned for her safety.

Police found the door to the residence was open, and the victim's phone, but no one was inside. 

While on scene, officers received a call that the victim called 911 and was at the police station. 

The victim told Scottdale Police that Prince kidnapped her sometime Monday morning after police responded to an initial domestic incident. 

The victim claimed Prince threatened to cut her friend's child's throat if she did not comply and go with him. 

Prince then allegedly drove the victim to a rural, wooded area she did not recognize and put a gun to her head after he forced her out of the car, according to the criminal complaint. 

Scottdale Police were told Prince and the victim stayed the night in the woods until he started driving them again the next morning. 

The victim told officers Prince started nodding off and made the victim drive the vehicle. 

The victim said she started recognizing her surroundings near Ohiopyle and drove to the Scottdale Police station because she knew where it was located. 

The victim managed to escape the vehicle and ran to the police department and called 911 as Prince drove away and allegedly yelled that he would burn the victim's house down. 

Prince is wanted by Scottdale Police. Anyone with information of his whereabouts, is asked to call 911 or Scottdale Police at 724-887-8220.
