Hempfield Township, PA -- Pennsylvania State Police, in cooperation with the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office, charged a Hempfield Township woman with criminal homicide after a deadly shooting over the weekend.
State police said Leeann Steel, 51, called 911 and relayed that she shot her husband and he needed medical attention.
State troopers responded to Merlin Lane in Hempfield Township on October 18, 2025 and found William Steel in a bedroom of the residence surrounded by blood.
William Steel suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Troopers located Leeann Steel in the yard of a neighboring residence.
A firearm, a Beretta Tomcat, was located on a table on the front porch of the residence which appeared to be recently fired, according to troopers.
Mrs. Steel was arrested and arraigned on a single count of criminal homicide and was denied bail.
