Hempfield Township, PA -- Pennsylvania State Police arrested a Greensburg man after responding to an armed robbery at a convenience store on Route 136 in Hempfield Township on Tuesday afternoon.
Troopers responded to the Par Mar convenience store at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
The employee inside of the store told troopers that a male with blonde hair wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt came into the store, armed with a claw hammer and demanded money from the cash register.
The employee handed the suspect cash along with $20 at the gas pump as the suspect was allegedly threatening harm to him.
Prior to the robbery occurring, the employee said the suspect attempted to make three separate purchases with banking cards, but the payment was declined.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from inside of the store and observed the suspect attempting to make the purchases and dropped one of the cards in front of the counter.
Police located an EBT card with the name Matthew Shashura on a shelf and identified Shashura as the man observed in the video.
Shashura, 28, was charged with robbery, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, theft, and receiving stolen property.
