Penn Township, PA -- Penn Township Police charged a couple accused of leaving a puppy behind after they were evicted from a township residence.
Officers responded to the residence on Route 130 in January after receiving a call from the landlord regarding a welfare check.
The landlord was concerned there was heavy flooding coming from inside of the residence and claimed the previous tenants changed the locks after being evicted.
Upon entry, officers noticed heavy flooding coming from an upstairs bathroom that caused the ceiling drywall to collapse.
Officers found the source of the flooding in an upstairs bathroom where the sink was intentionally clogged to cause further damage.
Inside of the bathroom, police discovered a dog without access to food or a water bowl.
Police learned Michael Albright and Heather Dunlap lived in the residence and were evicted and were the owners of the dog.
Dunlap allegedly told officers she has not fed the dog in the last 48 hours because she could not afford dog food.
Both Albright and Dunlap are facing animal cruelty and neglect charges.
Albright is accused of intentionally causing the flooding to the home and is facing additional charges of criminal mischief for causing damage to the residence.
Disclaimer: To the extent that pending criminal matters are discussed, all such charges are merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
