Salem Township, PA -- An Ohio man was arrested and charged by Pennsylvania State Police for his role in a deadly accident.
Ricardo Hardy, of South Euclid, Ohio, was arrested in Ohio by troopers this week.
State troopers responded to a three-vehicle accident on Route 22 near Route 819 in Salem Township in July of 2023.
Ricardo Hardy was the driver of an SUV involved in the accident and had a juvenile passenger in the vehicle who was transported to a hospital and described as being unconscious and in critical condition.
Investigators spoke to several witnesses at the scene who described the moments leading up to the accident.
Witnesses told police the SUV, driven by Hardy, was allegedly seen speeding on Route 22 as he approached the four-way intersection.
State police performed an accident reconstruction and spoke to treating medics who helped transport Hardy.
Hardy allegedly told medics that he believed he hydroplaned prior to the collision.
Three days after the accident, the juvenile who was in Hardy's vehicle at the time of the accident, passed away due to head trauma.
After a thorough investigation, troopers believe Hardy was recklessly operating his vehicle prior to the crash.
It was determined Hardy was traveling between 80-82 mph at the time of the collision and was driving too fast for weather conditions which ultimately caused the crash and loss of life.
