Greensburg, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announces the conviction of a former local police chief charged with sexual extortion.
Robert Baldwin, formerly the chief of Seward Police Department, pled guilty on Monday, April 17, 2023, to the most serious charges of sexual extortion and official oppression.
Baldwin avoided a jury trial this week by pleading guilty.
Baldwin was charged in 2020 after two women came forward and accused him of using his position to gain sexual favors.
DA Ziccarelli said, “Thanks to Pennsylvania State Police and Assistant District Attorney Anthony Iannamorelli, Robert Baldwin was held to the most serious charges and pled guilty to sexual extortion and official oppression. By ensuring a guilty plea, this former public official meant to serve and protect his community was held accountable. We hope the victims in this case, and the entire community, feel safer tonight.”
