Greensburg, PA -- A man awaiting trial on arson and burglary-related charges was arrested by Greensburg Police on Monday night after he was caught prowling around a home with a prybar, handgun, binoculars, and a knife.
Randy Bryner, 62, is facing charges of attempted burglary, possession of a firearm prohibited, criminal trespassing, possession of an instrument of crime, and prowling.
On March 9, 2026, Greensburg Police responded to a remote, wooded residence near College Avenue for an unknown male prowling around the property.
The unknown male was seen on surveillance video walking around the private property.
Police were provided a description of the male seen on the video and established a perimeter along the wood line of the property.
Officers located a male hiding behind a tree and deployed the department's K-9 officer for apprehension.
The male was identified as Bryner after being taken into custody by police. Police located a backpack near Bryner that contained crowbars, duct tape, binoculars, gloves, and knives.
In the same proximity, police said they located a loaded firearm.
Bryner relayed to police that he was sleeping in the basement of a detached home adjacent to the primary residence for several nights unbeknownst to the property owner.
Police found evidence on a basement window that would suggest attempted forced entry was made.
Bryner was denied bail and remanded to the Westmoreland County Prison.
He is awaiting trial for a 2022 case where he is facing charges of arson, burglary, risking catastrophe, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and aggravated cruelty to animals.
