Greensburg, PA – Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announces the sentencing of a Belle Vernon man convicted of third-degree murder.
Anthony Hairston, 29, was sentenced to serve a total of 40 to 80 years by Common Pleas Judge Christopher Feliciani.
Hairston was found guilty in November by a Westmoreland County jury of third-degree murder, tampering with evidence, drug-related offenses, and possession of a firearm prohibited.
Hairston was ordered to serve consecutive sentences.
Hairston shot and killed Holly Vadella, 59, in a violent act of road rage on the night of New Year’s Eve in 2022 in Rostraver Township.
Prosecutors contended that Hairston was agitated when he was driving behind Vadella’s slow-moving vehicle in order to make it to Sweeney’s Café in Rostraver before the bar closed.
Assistant District Attorneys Leo Ciaramitaro and Anthony Iannamorelli prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
District Attorney Ziccarelli said, “While Mr. Hairston will have to live the next 40 to 80 years inside the walls of a prison, this sentence does not bring Holly Vadella back to her loving family. The judge imposed the maximum sentence for third-degree murder, but this crime was unprovoked, senseless, and egregious.”
