Greensburg, PA -- Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announces the conviction and sentencing of an Arona man who caused a fatal crash while driving under the influence in 2021.
Ronald Jaffre, 55, pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while DUI, aggravated assault by a motor vehicle and driving under the influence.
Jaffre was driving along Route 136 in Hempfield Township in April of 2021 when he crashed into another vehicle, killing a Sewickley Township woman.
JoAnn Wardezak, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene. Her husband was seriously injured as a result of the accident.
Forensic tests determined Jaffre’s blood alcohol content at the time was .14%. The legal limit for an adult driver in the state of Pennsylvania is .08%.
Jaffre was sentenced to serve 4-8 years in prison.
