Sewickley Township, PA -- Pennsylvania State Police's Computer Crime Task Force investigated and filed charges against a Herminie man accused of possessing over 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material.
State police received a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identifying 58 files of child sexual abuse material.
Investigators tracked down an IP address associated with the uploaded files which came back to an account registered to Greg Hayes, 63, of Herminie.
State police executed a search warrant at Hayes' residence on Herminie Road where police seized multiple electronic devices and multiple digital storage devices.
On the devices, police located more than 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material involving adolescent children.
After Hayes was told he was under arrest, troopers said he attempted to run away.
Hayes is facing charges of possessing and disseminating child sexual abuse material, criminal use of communication facility, and resisting arrest.
Hayes was denied bail.
