In the spirit of the holiday season, Eastern Pike Regional Police Officers surprised motorists this week by handing out gift cards instead of traffic tickets, turning routine stops into moments of gratitude and goodwill. The initiative was made possible through a generous donation from Tri-State Shell, which provided the gift cards to help brighten the days of community members ahead of Christmas.
During the initiative, the officer stopped drivers for minor infractions or safety checks, only to reward them with a gift card and a reminder to drive safely. The unexpected gesture brought smiles, laughter, and even a few tears, as recipients expressed appreciation for the kindness shown during a busy and often stressful time of year.
“This was about spreading positivity and reminding people that law enforcement is here to support the community,” said Chief Stewart. Thanks to Tri-State Shell’s generosity, we were able to turn ordinary interactions into something truly meaningful during the holidays.”
The police department emphasized that the initiative focused on goodwill and education, reinforcing safe driving practices while strengthening relationships between officers and residents.
