Milford, Pa.- Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin announced the sentencing of a Pike County man for the murder of his parents. Colin Winkler, age 33, of Milford, Pennsylvania, previously pleaded guilty to the two counts of Murder in the Third Degree for the killing of both parents, Jeffery Winkler and Jacqueline Winkler. Pike County President Judge Gregory H. Chelak sentenced Winkler to a total sentence of life imprisonment plus 20 years in a state correctional facility along with a fine of $2,000.00.[1]
On September 24, 2024, a mental health incident was reported at the home of Jacqueline and Jeffery Winkler in Milford Township. Pennsylvania State Police responded and conducted a criminal investigation. Winkler’s brother had reported that he was on the phone with his mother, Jacqueline Winkler, who told him Colin Winkler was having a “psychotic break”.
When Pennsylvania State Police arrived on scene, the Troopers observed Winkler on the back deck completely naked and covered in blood. Winkler ignored the Troopers’ commands to get on the ground. Winkler asked the State Troopers what was going on and believed he was in surgery and had woken up covered in blood and in hand cuffs.
Winkler admitted to police that there was a crime committed at the residence and admitted to killing his parents.
Pike County Corner Christopher Brighton responded to the scene and confirmed the cause of death was due to sharp force injuries and ruled each death a Criminal Homicide.
[1] Under Pennsylvania Law a person convicted of two charges of Murder in the Third Degree is required to be sentenced to a life sentence.
