Milford, Pa.-A man from Forest City, Pennsylvania was sentenced at Pike County Court for traveling to Pike County to engage in sexual intercourse with a minor. Philip Brown Jr., age 31, of Forest City, PA, previously entered a plea of guilty to the crimes of Unlawful Contact with a Minor, and Criminal Attempt of Corruption of Minors. Pike County President Judge Gregory H. Chelak sentenced Brown to a total sentence of not less than 42 months up to 120 months in a state correctional facility along with a fine of $2,000.00.
According to the affidavit of probable cause supporting the charges, Detectives at the District Attorney’s Office obtained information the Brown was willing to travel to Pike County to engage in sexual contact with a fourteen-year-old child. When Brown arrived at the location, detectives arrested him.
District Attorney Tonkin noted the sentence imposed was a sentence beyond the normal suggested sentence in the Pennsylvania Sentencing Guidelines. Tonkin went on to state “the detectives in my office are doing an outstanding job investigating crimes against children, and we continue to build on that success to protect children in Pike County.”
Philip Brown Jr. has been held at Pike County correctional facility pending the outcome of the case. He will now be transferred to a state correctional facility to begin serving his sentence. Brown will be required to register under Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law for a period of twenty-five years.
