On February 6, 2026 at approximately 2107 hours an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Pennsylvania Avenue and Westbrook Avenue in Pen Argyl after observing a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Sarah Ziegenfuss. The officer observed indicators of impairment and Ziegenfuss was requested to perform field sobriety exercises. The officer observed additional signs of impairment and Ziegenfuss was placed under arrest for DUI-D. A Drug Recognition Expert from North Catasauqua Police conducted a drug influence evaluation and determined Ziegenfuss was impaired. Ziegenfuss was requested to submit to a chemical test which she agreed to. Laboratory results indicate that on the night in question Ziegenfuss had Methamphetamine, Amphetamine, Fentanyl, and related metabolites in her system. As a result of the investigation charges were filed through District Court.
