**ARRESTED** JOAQUIN VASQUEZ JR**
On Wednesday November 19, 2025 at 11:43 AM, the Palmer Township Police Department was notified by a member of the Palmer Municipal Fire Department that someone was attempting to utilize a fire department check, to put a down payment on a vehicle at the Brown-Daub Kia located at 3600 William Penn Highway.
Upon further investigation, Officers learned the car dealership contacted the bank to verify the check being presented. The bank notified a representative of the PMFD, who denied the use of the check.
Officers confirmed the check being used was a fraudulent check, containing a fictitious trust fund and the banking information of the Palmer Municipal Fire Department. Further investigation confirmed both of the suspects utilized similar fraudulent checks on previous dates, which contained the account information for the fire department. Steps were immediately taken to flag the transactions as fraudulent.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and identified as Joaquin Vasquez Jr and Megan Hummel Labar. They were transported to the Palmer Township Police Department for further investigation and processing. They were later arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Hawke and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000.00 bail straight.
