Palmer Township Police filed charges this afternoon against former Stockertown Police Chief Eric Schwab for impersonating a police officer and possessing and activating emergency vehicle lights, while no longer being in law enforcement.
Schwab allegedly operated his personal vehicle, a black Ford Explorer with emergency lights and siren installed, and used them to pull over a motorist.
The unlawful interaction between Schwab and another motorist occurred at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, May 5th, along Van Buren Road, Palmer Township.
According to that motorist, Schwab stopped him, telling him, "You're following me too closely. You're lucky I'm off duty right now or I'd write you a ticket." The victim motorist immediately identified Schwab and had knowledge that Schwab was no longer a Police Officer.
The victim motorist then reported the allegations to the Palmer Township Police Department, and an investigation was launched.
Palmer Township Investigators obtained a search warrant for Schwab's vehicle. The Search warrant was executed. All installed emergency lighting and a siren were seized and removed from Schwab's vehicle.
