On June 30, 2026, at approximately 2:25 am, officers responded to the area of Knox Avenue for a reckless driver. The vehicle was reported to be a silver Audi A5 traveling at a high rate of speed with an intoxicated driver. An officer observed a vehicle matching the description provided near Toboggan Trail and park in a driveway. The officer made contact with the driver, identified as Zayne Sears. An officer on scene also made contact with the owner of the residence, who advised officers that Sears did not have permission to be in the driveway, nor did they know who Sears was.
While speaking with Sears, an officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and observed Sears' eyes to be glassy. Sears admitted to ingesting alcohol, as well as vaping marijuana. Sears agreed to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and, as a result of the tests, was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Sears was transported to a DUI Center and submitted to a legal blood draw. The results of the blood draw indicated the presence of THC. Sears was charged by criminal complaint with the listed offenses.
