On October 14, 2025, at approximately 10:04 am, Forks Township Police Department responded to 1700 Sullivan Trail for a report of a cooking oil theft. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant, who reported that a cooking oil container was tampered with and oil was removed from it. The complainant had video surveillance footage of the theft. Officers reviewed the surveillance footage which showed a white Home Depot van approach the container and two males exiting. The male suspects began to extract the oil from the container and into the rear of the van. Officers located the van and conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Sullivan Trail.
The driver in the vehicle was identified as Tymen Sampson, who admitted to looking for used cooking oil. The van was seized and officers applied for a search warrant. A search of the vehicle was conducted, yielding used cooking oil, a pipe wrench, and receipts for used cooking oil recycle centers. Sampson was arraigned by a judge on 12/15/25 on the charges of (1 count) Theft by Unlawful Taking (M1) and (1 count) Receiving Stolen Property (M1). The judge set bail at $5,000 unsecured and Sampson was released.
