On June 19, 2026, at approximately 6:20 pm, Forks Township Police Department was conducting a special assignment for a DUI roving enforcement. An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mitman Road and Sycamore Avenue. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Eli Betancourt-Torres. The officer detected an odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle and observed Betancourt-Torres' eyes to be glossy. Betancourt-Torres admitted to recently smoking marijuana at his residence and stated he had a small amount in the vehicle, as well as drug paraphernalia. Betancourt-Torres participated in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and the officer observed several indicators of impairment. As a result, Betancourt-Torres was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He was transported to a DUI Center and submitted to a legal blood draw, which indicated the presence of THC. Betancourt-Torres was charged by criminal complaint with the listed charges.
