Update: The pedestrian has been identified as Howard Hoffman, 70, of King of Prussia, Pa.
A tragic traffic accident occurred on October 23, 2024, at approximately 12:15 pm, in the parking lot of the Staples Store, located at 1844 Ridge Pike, resulting in the loss of life of a male pedestrian.
The pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle in the parking lot. The driver of the striking vehicle has been fully cooperative with authorities and is assisting in the investigation.
The victim, an elderly male from the King of Prussia area, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His identity will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.
The Upper Providence Accident Reconstruction team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time.
The Upper Providence Township Police Department extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim. Police were assisted by the Upper Providence Township Fire Department, Trappe Fire Department, Freedom Valley Ambulance, and the Royersford and Limerick Fire Police.
