The Lower Moreland Township Police Department Internship Program was developed in 2019. This program allows criminal justice students from local colleges and universities to earn college credits while participating in a variety of activities, including ride-alongs, investigative work, and department training.
This summer LMPD hosted two college interns as well as two Lower Moreland High School seniors completing their CAPS (Community Action Project for Seniors) program. Our college interns were Starustine and Casey, from Penn State and Holy Family University respectively. They participated in a number of activities, including ride-alongs with patrol officers, attending court and range training. They also set up an information table at the Huntingdon Valley Library to help promote our CrimeWatch platform. Our high school interns were Joseph and Timothy, who created and presented a program about senior fraud for the residents of Gloria Dei Towers and Gloria Dei Manor.
