On March 28th, 2026, officers with the Pocono Township Police Department were dispatched to the Pocono Premium Outlets for a retail theft. Officers were informed that the male fled from the store and was last seen running into the nearby woods. In canvassing the area, officers quickly located the male, later identified as Diego Daniel Zarate Castaneda, running along an embankment through the woods. Officers gave the male several commands to stop running, however he refused and continued to flee through the woods.
After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the male without further issue. Additionally, thanks to witnesses at the scene, officers were also able to recover and return the stolen merchandise, which totaled over $400. The male was also found to be in possession of a "booster bag", a common tool used to interfere with store security tags/systems.
Charges have been filed in relation to this incident.
