On May 9th, 2026, officers with the Pocono Township Police Department were dispatched to Weis Market in Tannersville for a reported retail theft. With the assistance of the store's loss prevention team, officers were able to identify the suspect as Tavares McQueen, a 44-year-old male from the Tannersville area. Over the span of a few weeks leading up to the report, Tavares had stolen over $400 worth of merchandise using a "skip scan" method. Charges have been filed in in relation to this incident.
