On July 26, 2026, at approximately 0408 hours, an Officer with the Pocono Township Police Department was observing traffic in the area of SR0611 and SR0314. The Officer observed a vehicle traveling South on SR0611 at 70.5 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. The Officer proceeded to pursue the vehicle and observed it to traveling out of it's lane on multiple occasions resulting in the Officer performing a traffic stop. The Officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the operator and defendant in this matter, identified as Maurice E. Evans a 46-year-old male from Valley Steam, NY. Evans was observed showing signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. Blood results later indicated that Evans' BAC was .148%.
