On Sunday May 11th, 2025 at approximately 8:50am. Officers of The Pocono Township Police Department received several calls about a domestic disturbance at The Weis Market in Tannersville. When officers approached the male suspect, Aanya Coles a 24 year old male from Tannersville, he immediately became combative, and shouted obscenities in a busy store. Officers attempted to move Coles to a quieter area to speak to him but he refused. When officers attempted to place him under arrest, he actively resisted for several minutes requiring several officers to intervene.
After speaking with witnesses and reviewing store video footage, it was discovered that prior to officers arrival Coles had been arguing with a woman, punching car windows, and shaking a shopping cart, all while holding a 1 year old infant. Based on the information received and Cole's actions, he has been charged with Endangering The Welfare of a Child, a felony due to the child's age, Misdemeanors Recklessly Endangering a Person, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, Disorderly Conduct, and Summary Harassment. Coles was transported to Monroe County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
