On Friday, July 24th, 2026 at approximately 1034 hours, an officer with the Pocono Township Police Department took a complaint from a victim stating they put a $500 deposit down to purchase a skid steer and when they backed out of the purchase, the male refused to send the deposit back. The officer made contact with Ronald Brown, 64-year-old, from East Stroudsburg due to him being the individual selling the skid steer and receiving the deposit money. Through further investigation, the officer was able to confirm that there was no contract that the victim agreed to showing the deposit was non-refundable. The officer also found that Ronald used that deposit towards the sale of the skid steer when he eventually listed it for sale again. Ronald refused to return the deposit and was charged with theft by unlawful taking.
