**PRESS RELEASE** **City of Bradford Police Department**

**Incident Summary** On October 9, 2024, at approximately 00:14 hours, the City of Bradford Police Department responded to a report of a box truck striking the Holiday Inn Express building, causing significant damage to the structure and multiple parked vehicles.

**Incident Details** The box truck had struck the side of the building and the front pillars holding up the overhang. Further investigation revealed that the truck had also struck five parked motor vehicles during the incident. As officers were en route to the scene, they spotted the truck traveling west on Foreman Street and then onto Kennedy Street. Attempts were made to stop the truck, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

**Investigation** The box truck was determined to be stolen from the Bradford Era just prior to the incident. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as John A. McWhinnie of Massachusetts. A warrant has been obtained for his arrest.
