On Friday, October 2, 2026, at approximately 8:00 am, officers with the Hazleton Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of East Broad Street for a report of a male violating an active Protection From Abuse (PFA) order.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the male, later identified as Anthony VEET, had arrived at the location and taken the victim and two children before fleeing the area in his vehicle.
A short time later, VEET’s vehicle was located in Carbon County. VEET and the three victims were located inside the vehicle. VEET was taken into custody without further incident.
VEET was subsequently arrested and charged with three counts of False Imprisonment and one count of violating a Protection From Abuse order.
VEET also has prior assault charges involving the same victim and is prohibited from having contact with her under an existing court order.
VEET was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Antolick, where bail was denied.
Hazleton City Police Department was assisted by Jim Throup Police Department.
All charges are allegations, and VEET is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”
