The Susquehanna Regional Police conducted a K-9 Search of the Donegal High School on Friday 04/21/2023 at 10 am. A non-emergency lockdown was initiated at the Donegal High School for a Police K-9 Search for drugs and controlled substances. K-9 Officers from East Hempfield, Northwest Regional, Lititz Borough, Lancaster City and Manheim Township assisted in the search. The search was completed without students present and no incidents occurred during the search. The collaboration between law enforcement and school officials highlights the importance of keeping schools safe for students and staff. It also serves as a reminder that illegal items have no place on school grounds and will not be tolerated.
According to the school, the search was a “preventative measure that reflects our commitment to eliminating drugs and other controlled substances from our schools.”
In addition to any legal or criminal charges filed by the police, anyone found to be in possession of prohibited items during the search will face disciplinary consequences. The school district’s policy is not to release specific student discipline information.
The district says they will have no further comment regarding the outcome of the search.
