Municipal Brief –
At the June 14, 2022 Strasburg Borough Council meeting, Council heard a request from the family of former Strasburg Borough resident, Judge Herbert Millen regarding a request that a historical marker be placed at his former residence to honor his accomplishments. Judge Millen was the first African American judge in Pennsylvania and only the thirteenth in the country at that time. He was also the first African American admitted to Strasburg High School and went on to become valedictorian. Other accomplishments were discussed and Council President, Mike Chiodo, said the Borough will pursue placing a marker at the site.
In other matters, Borough Council approved the Agreement Concerning Stormwater Management Facilities between the Borough of Strasburg and Ridgewall, LLC (1533 Village Road Project).
Police Chief Ferretti reported that for the month of May the police department had four hundred thirty-four (434) calls for service. There was one (1) criminal arrest, twenty-eight (28) speeding arrests, fifty-six (56) other traffic arrests, five (5) parking tickets, and thirty-six (36) warnings. There were twelve (12) grass/weed ordinance violation warnings given which resulted in all properties being brought into compliance.
