Today the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) celebrate their 111th Anniversary. BSA is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States with over 2 million youths participating and 1 million adult volunteers. The purpose of the BSA is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development, self-reliance and leadership. These skills are learned through BSA activities, such as, taking part in service projects, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises. Several American heroes, like Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as numerous U.S. Presidents, like John F. Kennedy and George W. Bush, have all been members of the BSA.
The Strasburg Borough Police Department is a proud supporter of our very own scouts, here in Troop 56. Troop 56 is holding true to the Borough motto of “Preservation and Progress” by preserving the ways of Scouts past and developing our community’s next generation of athletes, scientists, entertainers, and leaders.
