On December 31, 2019 shortly after 2200 hrs. Officers from Lancaster Bureau of Police met with the victim of a robbery. The victim had initially fled the scene and contacted Police from another location. When Officers met with the victim, he stated that he had met with (2) males on the 400 blk. W. Vine St. The purpose of the meeting was to purchase marijuana from the males.
The victim and suspects were on the 400 blk. W. Vine St. when one of the suspects used a handgun to strike the victim on his head. The suspects took cash from the victim and left the scene. The victim was taken to LGH for treatment of his injury.
The victim knew the males through social media and had partial names/nicknames to provide to Officers and Detectives. Det. Eric McCrady continued the investigation and was able to identify the suspects as Elijah Deliz M/17 and Jeswel Tirado M/17. After consultation with the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, Direct File protocols were authorized and both suspects were charged as adults.Both were charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Conspiracy- Robbery.
On January 29, 2020 Elijah Deliz was taken into custody after an unrelated incident. On February 5, 2020 Jeswel Tirado surrendered himself at the Lancaster Bureau of Police station.
Deliz was arraigned on his complaint and committed to LCP in lieu of $250,000 bail. Tirado was arraigned on his complaint and committed to LCP in lieu of $100,000 bail.
All persons accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
